Seeking Input on Live Stream Relay Setup

Postby NOYB » 15 Jul 2022 10:39

Have a live stream relay setup and working from home to a hosted VPS (CentOS 7, headless).

The home system runs this command...

Code: Select all

"C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" dshow:// :dshow-vdev=none :dshow-adev="Line 1/2 (M-Audio MobilePre)" --input-title-format="$tStream Title $- $bCall Sign 162.550 MHz $- $aNational Weather Service" --sout "#transcode{vcodec=none,acodec=mp3,ab=32,channels=1,samplerate=22050,scodec=none}:http{mux=mp3,dst=:8080/Stream_Name}" :sout-all :sout-keep

The relay system (hosted VPS) runs this command (as user vlc, non root)...

Code: Select all

cvlc http://VLC_Stream.Domain.com:8080/Stream_Name --sout '#standard{access=http,mux=mp3,dst=:8080/Stream_Name}'

Would like some input on the commands. Particularly for the relay. Is correct/best way or should other commands/options be used?

Also the home to relay stream is active even when there are no listeners. Even at only 32kbps that adds up to about 10GB a month (24x7). Is there a way to have the relay source stream be active only when there is at least one listener? Seems like there could be an option for that.

Also getting some relay startup errors. Don't know if need to address them or not.

Code: Select all

[0000000001694a30] dbus interface error: Failed to connect to the D-Bus session daemon: Unable to autolaunch a dbus-daemon without a $DISPLAY for X11 [0000000001694a30] main interface error: no suitable interface module [00000000015d51c0] main libvlc error: interface "dbus, none" initialization failed [00000000016968a0] main interface error: no suitable interface module [00000000015d51c0] main libvlc error: interface "globalhotkeys, none" initialization failed [00000000016968a0] dummy interface: using the dummy interface module... Looking forward to your insights.
Thanks
