Cannot locally rtp multicast

Postby Lamont » 26 Dec 2021 04:16

On ubuntu 2004 at first trying to get multicast streaming working on the command line. Tried various combinations in the wiki to stream but none of them worked.
Latest attempt

Code: Select all

vlc -vv some.MP4 --sout '#display,dst=rtp{mux=ts,dst=239.255.12.42,ttl=10,sdp=sap,name="TestStream"}'
on same machine running test client in another terminal

Code: Select all

vlc rtp://239.255.12.42
No luck testing this multicasting. Used iperf on the same machine testing connecting to another machine via multicast in another vlan and worked fine. Not sure whats going on.

On

Code: Select all

5.11.0-43-generic #47~20.04.2-Ubuntu SMP Mon Dec 13 11:06:56 UTC 2021 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Code: Select all

VLC media player 3.0.9.2 Vetinari (revision 3.0.9.2-0-gd4c1aefe4d) VLC version 3.0.9.2 Vetinari (3.0.9.2-0-gd4c1aefe4d) Compiled by buildd on lgw01-amd64-060.buildd (Apr 9 2020 19:29:44) Compiler: gcc version 9.3.0 (Ubuntu 9.3.0-10ubuntu2)

Please refer to the streaming howto for the CLI syntax.
