Recording of stream easily lost due to UI bug

I'm using VLC 3.0.16 on macOS 12.0.1.

I was recording a video stream and came across a bug. When using the Playback > Record option, the recording isn't saved until you turn off recording using the menu option. However, when the stream is ended, the playback options are disabled, meaning you have no way to toggle off Record. I just lost a 3 hour webinar session because of this issue.
