"Open media" command line

Postby vlcmo » 10 Dec 2021 01:22

Is there a command line (and/or shortcut icon code) to get the Network tab in the "Open media" box? Normally one has to first open the app and then press Control+N.

Ctrl+N takes you directly to the network tab from the main GUI, as listed in the Media menu.

You don't need to open the network tab, you can directly play an URL via the command line:
VLC.exe "https://site.com/example.mp4"

VLC.exe "https://site.com/example.mp4"
Thank you. But I am specifically looking for a command that opens the network tab, So I can make a shortcut icon out of it. Opening the command prompt each time and putting in a YouTube link is even more inconvenient.
