youtube streaming lag/buffering

hey guys

I use vlc to watch my channels on youtube and up until a couple of weeks ago everything worked great. First only some videos started to load super slow but the rest was still fine. But now almost every video I choose to watch takes a couple of seconds to load, then runs maybe 10-15 seconds and then stops to buffer again..

anybody else experiencing this?

I use vlc 3.0.16 on an 2011 imac with high sierra

So I had another idea - since I have some more stuff running on my imac like radarr and sonarr, maybe it´s a port problem?

That brings me to the question, if I press cmd-n and paste a youtube-link, how does VLC connect to the internet/youtube? Does it use the connection settings/DNS that it finds in the imacs network settings?
Maybe I can change that somehow into a way, where it doesn´t get disturbed by other programs or servers?
