Is ther any way to have vlc automatically pause at the start and end of video playback?

This way VLC will stop between two files.
Settings - Preferences - Playlist - General - check "Play and stop"

thanks for the response but i want pause not stop. More specifically i would like to open a video file with vlc and have it be paused on the first frame of video, then at the end of playing that video pause again at the last frame of video. I dont know if its possible but its what i need
