Hi,
The current version (3.0.16) can't play short audio files, stopping before playing the whole fiile.
From googling it seems to keep coming back between versions...
VLC can't play short audio files.

Known issue with the DirectX audio output. Use WASAPI instead, named Windows Multimedia Device ouput in VLC for some reason.
