NAS device is playing instead of expanding

Hello all! I'm running VLC Player 3.0.16 Apple Silicon, and I'm having such a hard time opening my NAS device. In VLC, I go to Local Network > Universal Plug'n'Play, and I double click MyCloudEX2Ultra. When I do this, it's almost like VLC thinks it's a song and tries to play it; the Pause button becomes active; and the elapsed time stays at 0:00... it eventually stops attempting to play, and that's it. Yesterday, I was able to expand the drive and see all of the directories and files and play a playlist, but this morning (without having done anything differently), it just wants to play the NAS. I'm very confused and have no idea how to fix this and any advice would be super helpful.
