VLSub Plugin feeze

Postby alfredopacino » 11 Aug 2021 13:59

Hello, it has been a while you start including VLSub Plugin in the default bundle. I would have expected some improvement along the road, yet it still seems very unstable.
It freezes all the time and it makes VLC crash in case the host opensubtitles.org is down (and we all know opensubtitles.org is one of the websites with the biggest downtime rate since the 90s) or in case of network issues.
Is there a plan to make (at least) the remote requests non-blocking for the whole interface?

I haven't experienced any crashes due to Vlsub being unable to download subtitles. Suggest you reset preferences and then check again: https://wiki.videolan.org/VSG:ResetPrefs

You can also download most subtitles from https://subscene.com/

Thanks for the answer.
You haven't ever experienced this problem? That is weird. It is a pretty well-known bug.
There are dozens of articles and discussions around the web trying to fix it, there is even another thread about this in this section on the first page. Another one here from 2016
