Please Help Me Play a .264 File

Postby Mike_215 » 22 May 2021 02:49

The latest VLC player from the Microsoft Store will NOT play .264 files.

Several older sites show the VLC classic player. Did that work? Is it still available?

I have spent hours trying to find a player that will play the files from my IP camera. Everything fails! AND there is so much malware out there masquerading as a solution. :(

Why is this so hard???!!! It should be simple.

Please help.

When I see on line posts regarding the VLC player and then I download the current version from the Microsoft Store, it seems like a completely different and limited program. Is there a way to download the classic VLC player?

Renaming to .h264 did not work. That file type is not in the VLC filter.

Renaming to .h264 did not work. That file type is not in the VLC filter.

It doesn't matter if it's associated or not with VLC, just try to play it.

If it doesn't work then open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback, and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com if it's too long.

Also upload a short sample of your original problematic file to Zippyshare.com or to WeTransfer.com and then post the link to the file here.

If needed cut it with DGsplit and read here about how to do it:

100 MB max should be enough.
