VLC plays this copy-protected DVD, but a green layer shows up

I believe this is a copy protection technique, but it shows up even when I play the video normally.

Is there a quick fix to play the DVD as it would play in a DVD player?

Try another video output module:

You can try with and without hardware acceleration.
You can also try to enable or disable some video options such as Overlay and/or Hardware YUV -> RGB conversions.
