Segmentation Fault

Postby JGB » 05 Jan 2006 10:03

I have VLC on an FC4 installation working as streaming server for television broadcast using a PVR-350 card.

I also have VLC on my desktop running FC4 and on my laptop running WinXP.

I want to stream via HTTP for access outside of my LAN. I've successfully done so without transcoding, but the stream is quite degraded accessed from a cross country terminal (also running WinXP). When I do apply mpeg4 video and mp3 audio transcoding, my WinXP laptop plays the stream, and the cross country terminal plays a smoother video, but my FC4 desktop fails with a segmentation fault when the stream is MPEG TS encapsulated. Here is the error output:

VLC media player 0.8.2 Janus
libdvbpsi error (PSI decoder): TS discontinuity (received 7, expected 0) for PID 0
libdvbpsi error (PSI decoder): TS discontinuity (received 7, expected 0) for PID 66

When I use MPEG PS encapsulation, there is no difference on the WinXP computers. The FC4 desktop will play sound, but no video. The message log continuously displays:

packetizer_mpeg4video warning: waiting for VOL

Using Xine, I have the same issue (no video) with the continuous error:

bad sequence header

I installed both the server and the desktop versions of VLC from the Livna RPMs (v 0.8.2-0.lvn.5.4), and reinstalled the livdvbpsi(0.1.5) library from source.

Can anyone help me resolve this issue with my desktop? I've finally found a server configuration I am happy with and works via http over the web and am reluctant to change those settings. I've considered running multiple streams (transcoded and un-transcoded) but I'd rather fix the desktop issues.
