Timeshift data written to disk

Postby foobar74 » 28 Feb 2021 21:44

Hi there,

using VLC 3.0.11.1 Vetinari (on Linux, but that shouldn´t matter here).

I just noticed, when I used timeshift watching a DVB-C stream, I was surprised, no data was written to my timeshift data folder....

I have 32 gig of memory, does VLC not write timeshift data to disk, when there is plenty of RAM?
At what size of timeshift data does VLC start to write to disk?

Thanks!!

Ah,ok.
In $HOME/.config/vlc/vlcrc I have set

input-timeshift-path=$HOME/Videos/timeshift

When using timeshift recently, this folder was empty.
This made me think, vlc first buffers a lot in memory, before writing to disk.

thanks
