Unable To Load Contents of Shared Drives

Postby MaxArk68 » 05 Oct 2020 02:23

I am back, still struggling with the ease of use of VLC on my Android streaming box.
I am running Windows 10 on my PC, and am struggling to access media content on my PC through my home network with VLC 3.2.12 on my Android TV streaming box.

I was having no problems until I added a sharded drive. After I added the shared drive, when I connected through VLC into my PC, it went into a state of perpetual loading. Loading loading loading for hours and hours.

VLC can see all my connected computers. I can access my one computer running Windows 8.1, but the main PC running WIndows 10 I cannot. It's identified in VLC, but it just does not load the shared contents.

My Windows 10 PC, Network and sharing center > Advanced sharing settings
Public folder sharing is turned ON
Password protected sharing is turned OFF (yet when I try to connect to my PC in VLC I have to enter SMB credentials which I never use on this PC. Luckily its the same as what I use to login into my WIndows 8.1 machine)

For the two drives I am trying to share, from their individual property settings:
Network File and Folder Sharing: Shared
Advanced Sharing properties:
Permissions:
Group or user names: Everyone (Full control)

I can see the shared drives on my Windows 8.1 computer.

Anyone? Thoughts? Suggestions?

Could you please send us some logs? Settings > Advanced > Debug logs. Please make sure to reproduce the issue before sending the logs.

I was able to resolve the issue. I had to initiate SMB1 in Windows 10. Perhaps this version of VLC for Android doesn't work well with SMB3?
