Playing m3u files

Hi there !
I am struggling to have an m3u file played by Safari, everything is ok if I use old OSX versions. With Catalina I find no way to have it working !
Safari just downloads the file, but without launching VlC. Very same behaviour with Chrome. The stream I need to play is a video feed, do you know any Catalina problem regarding this kind of tasks ?
