Real-time stamping on Video Clips

Can anyone advise if it is possible to put a real-time counter on a video clip in VLC?. eg instead of the counter starting at 00.00.00 (hrs, mins, secs) in playback, it is set up to show the actual start time (24hr clock) of its recording; eg 14.32.45 and runs from there. Thanks, Gordon
