artifacts, blocks on dark areas of the movie

Postby Guest » 13 Dec 2005 11:48

Hi there.
Im fairly new to the mac world, i have a powerbook g4 1.25 512 meg, radeon 9600 64meg.
I've tried to solve this, with no success till now,ive searched and searched this forum for something similar but with no luck, so i've decided to ask here, to see if anyone could help me :)
I hope i can explain myself well.
I mainly only watch xvid stuff, but since ive started watching it on the mac, i noticed that in the dark areas, i get some weird artifacts, blocks, that dont appear when i watch the same movie on the pc, this applies to the quicktime player also, not only vlc. When its a shot in the daylight, etc, the image looks fine.
Can anyone help me out and answer, what this problem is about, is it a codec problem, etc?
I attach some images for you guys to see, what im talking about, ive enhanced them a bit with gamma correction just so you guys can see clearly.
Thanks in advance.
Sure hope someone can enlight me :)
