keyboard controls missing

Am running VLC 2.2.2 Weatherwax on Mint. Installed it from the software manager app.

Am not seeing the keyboard controls [ and ] for fine speed adjustment.

Is there some option I'm not aware of to enable this?

Hi, you should upgrade to the 3.0.x release

Do you have them in the hotkeys preferences? (ctrl+p => hotkeys)

Thanks for the response. I don't know how to upgrade to 3.0 since I'm doing the upgrade thru the S/W manager product. It did upgrade it to a later 2.x version.
But I installed a different skin and now the problem is gone- I can use [ and ]
