Multicast source on unicast demand

Postby Boycee » 23 Jan 2019 15:31

Hi,

I know it is possible to have VLC receive a stream by multicast and send it by unicast - simply by using the "stream" option. However, I'd like to have VLC only join the multicast group if there is a unicast client/request. Is this possible?

The multicast source is UDP, however it is flexible on the unicast client protocol (Actually I'm guessing would need to be HTTP or RTP request from client). Just 1 client in total.

Any ideas?

You can do that in VLM, yes, with Vod mode.
