setup vlm ubuntu 16.04

good day people im a complete newbie to linux , i am using ubuntu 16.04 i am trying to set up vod using vlm ,i know how to load the vod in vlm in vlc player and know how to conect to telnet and get a conection but how do i load the vlm ,i follow these instructions in this link https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/create-li ... rver-home/ but im stuck at the last part were its says to load vlm ,any instructions on how to load it i the forums ,or can someone explain how to load it ...thanks
