"play with vlc" on the recycle bin?!?!

Postby nir » 03 Dec 2005 11:39

Hi guys when I right-click my recycle bin I get the vlc shell extensions "play with vlc" and "add to vlc playlist".

1. It doesn't look good
2. Can I remove this shell integration completely?

wtf?

Yeah, how can the contextmenu integration completely be removed?

I deleted the contextmenu entry of the recycle bin by integrating this .reg file:

Code: Select all

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 ;Removes VLC from the folders contextmenu [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\AddToPlaylistVLC] [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\PlayWithVLC]

This removes VLC from Recyclebin but not from regular folders. (atleast it worked for me :) )

Code: Select all

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 ;Removes VLC from the all folders contextmenu [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\AddToPlaylistVLC] [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\PlayWithVLC] ;Adds VLC to the folders contextmenu (not recycle bin) [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\AddToVLCPlaylist] @="Add to VLC media player's Playlist" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\AddToVLCPlaylist\command] @="C:\\Program Files\\VideoLAN\\VLC\\vlc.exe --one-instance --playlist-enqueue \"%1\"" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\Play with VLC media player] [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\Play with VLC media player\command] @="C:\\Program Files\\VideoLAN\\VLC\\vlc.exe --one-instance --no-playlist-enqueue \"%1\""

An easy way would be to uninstall VLC and reinstall it, but without checking the option for the contextual menus.

Applied on the SVN, so the next nightly and future releases should be ok.

Thanks for the solution

No translation necessary!

You have two choices:

1. Uninstall VLC and then reinstall it without the Context Sensitive thing :D

2. Download the newest Nightly Build :D

Can you also have a contextmenu option for 'Play with VLC' on an individual ISO file?

Hmm…this might be useful (although a little more technical): Hacking the Context Menu

How do I get the recycle bin icon back on my desktop? I meant to delete the items in my recycle bin,but I accidentally deleted the recycle bin icon on my desktop instead. Does anybody know how to get it back? Thanks!
