Access Windows Shared Folder from VLC for iOS 11.4.1

Postby Glenta » 10 Jul 2018 05:40

I have been trying to find on Google and some on here to access my shared folder from the VLC app. I go to Local network and find my shared folder host (GlentaServer) And when I tap on it, it asks for user and password which I fill in correctly multiple times and even tried not even filling in anything just in case. Am I missing something in the shared folder setting or am I doing something wrong when connecting?

Your shares is probably SMBv2. VLC only supports SMBv1 on iOS.

Hi JBK,

this cannot be the cause.
I've got the same problem:
VLC Player 3.1.1 (309) on my iPhone (iOS 11.4.1).
Connecting to an SMB share is not working. I'm not getting any response - just the "wait screen" with the rotating wheel ...
My NAS Server only supports SMB1.

Best regards,
T.
