Postby nicolargo » 29 Nov 2005 14:49

When i run VLC 0.8.4 (on a Windows XP OS) with the SAP option (-S sap), VLC start only 15 seconds later. VLC start very quickly if i remove this option...

this is due to a windows XP ipv6 problem. Two fixes are available:

1/ Install IPV6 support on your PC : run "ipv6 install" in a windows command prompt.
2/ Disable IPv6 support in the VLC SAP module (i'm not really sure that this even fixes it)

The following actions solve the issue:
- Command line: ipv6 install
- VLC: /Preferences/Playlist/SAP/Disable IPv6 announces (Advanced option)
- Command line: ipv6 uninstall
- Reboot

I do not think that ipv6 command are very usefull...

Thanks you !

well you either do the ipv6 install thing or disable it in the prefs. You don't need to do both.
