Horrible bass since 3.0.0

Postby Aireil » 18 May 2018 12:53

Hello.

I upgraded to the 3.0.0 version, unfortunately, I had to downgrade it due to weird audio.

The software of my headset is set to boost bass, but I don't have any problem with the 2.x versions (up to 2.2.8).
It feels like bass are way too boosted, same as if you go beyond 100% volume, it gets really weird distortion, but only on bass.

Sorry if it's badly explained, I'm not sure how to explain it.

Maybe something changed audio (bass) wise in the 3.x versions?

Thank you,
Aireil.

Try equalizer. You can always increase/decrease volume levels of different frequencies. Bass boosting headphones are horrible things to spend money. Use non-bass boosting headphones and use equalizer of VLC.

Thank you for the answer. It's not really bass booting headphones, it's just that it happens to have an "equalizer" inside the software, so I'm using it as it "feels" better to my ears.
I tried tweaking the equalizer in VLC, but the sound still seems "distorded" :/.
Really weird.

You may change the output module in the Preferences and see if it has any effect. There's a chance the 2.2 was using an older Windows API and 3.0 is using the newer one.

Saved! You were right for the fix, I changed the output module to "DirectX" and I no longer have the problem, thank you very much! :)
