recording live stream with Mac osx

Hi,

I have been trying for years to record live stream (on Youtube) with VLC media player but can't get it to work. I searched on the internet how to do it but to no avail. What am I doing wrong?
Mac osx 10.12.6 VLC media player Version 2.2.4 Weatherwax (Intel 64bit)

Marfos, I have been having the same issue you have described. Have you come up with any success or even anything that might look promising?

I’m currently thinking that a command line usage may be a good resort.
