VLC crashing on exit (v3.0.1)

Postby vlcuser2018 » 18 Mar 2018 22:28

I am running VLC 3.0.1 on my Mac (OSX 10.11.6) and am noticing VLC shows up a crash dialog on exiting.

Is there anything I can do to help troubleshoot? It's not a big issue as it appears to only do this on exit but I do use it to record audio streams automatically (using Audio Hijack) so it holds up my jobs.

Thanks.

Wow, that's fast. Thanks! When will 3.0.2 be out?

I had the same problem, and noted that it generally occurred after I'd quite 3.0.1 after massive memory-leaking (which I was able to keep track of by having the MacOS' Activity Monitor utility up and set to watching memory usage). This seems to happen mainly (exclusively?) with 10-bit video, even if the file size is very small. For example, the Star Trek Continues (a fan-series) episodes to play off-line; they're about 350mb file-sizes, but when played in 3.0.1, memory usage would rapid balloon, then the Kernel would also balloon, until both were running about 8gb, and start thrashing the hard-disk as they exceed physical ram and went to virtual memory.

(I had to go back to 2.2.8 for the time being.)
