I noticed WTV support dropped. Please bring it back.

I record TV programs on my primary Win7 PC using Windows Media Center and I'd like to be able to watch them on my Win10 tablet over my home network.

I installed the latest (3.0.1) version of VLC only to discover .WTV support was dropped "for Copyright/DRM reasons" (displaying only the first frame, playing only audio), forcing me to go back to v2.2.8 (the ONLY Win10 app capable of playing WTV files.) :(

Dropping playback support for WTV is just dumb. If Windows can record it, it should be able to play it. Please bring back support for WTV files.

I would also like to see this capability returned to VLC.
Thank you.

always surprised how a technical issue can be turned into bullshit
:!: If you want your problem to be solved :
* First read troubleshooting guide VSG:Main
* Always provide verbose LOGS ! (command line or from gui)
* Always check your issue against a developer build from Nightly Build of VLC
* Tell us when your problem is solved !

I too would love the support for WTV files to be reinstated. I had been avoiding updating VLC and figured now that VLC is fantastic with my android phone and tablet for streaming and casting all file types I thought the Windows 10 PC or app version of VLC would match so updated the PC version- bad move. It's sort of at the stage where I have to remember which app to use with which device or give windows the flick for watching media....
