No image on UHD content on XBox One S

Hello,

Recently I started having troubles when playing UHD/4K content on my Xbox One S: same movie than before, so it was working. Sound is okay but image is a black frame.
The thing is that I don't know if there was a recent update on XBox, or on the app itself. It noticed that right after installing Kodi alpha version, to try it. Not sure it could have any link.

I can't report a bug, for sure, but at least share that info with you and if anyone has the same problem, please let me know !

When did you start having issues exactly? What are the references of the file?

Can you share your Xbox OS version as well as VLC app version?

Version 3.0 of the app is coming up very soon so you should probably try it out then and let me know if you still have an issue.

Hello mfkl,

I noticed that issue maybe one or two weeks ago. Starting a UHD HDR + Atmos movie it makes by xbox one to instantly shutdown. I switched to my tv player to avoid a late debugging, and when I made another try recently, I had the same issues. Or a complete crash of my xbox (instant shutdown) or movie is starting, with sound, but no image.

I will wait for VLC 3.0 to be available for download, test on that version, and if same issue happen, I will update this post with my xbox version.

Hello

I made a test tonight and sadly I still have the exact same issue.
XBox One S: 10.0.16299.5101RS3_release_xbox_dev_1802.180131-1450)
VLC: 3.0.0.70

For the content itself I have to find a way to share it. 60Gb cannot be shared that easily. But no UHD + HDR content can be played on my Xbox. Same content on my VLC on Windows 10 (universal, 3.0.0.0) is played with no issue, both sound and image are okay.

One among others ... I tried to deactivate the hardware acceleration in settings, image is not black, but it is not watchable at all
