Well the nightlies website at https://nightlies.videolan.org/ seems to have had the nightlies taken down in order to just have a message about how version 3.0.0 has not been released yet, really annoying, I wish you would bring back nightly builds to that site as soon as possible.
Still, thankfully, for those interested in testing release candidates, you CAN find them on the website currently at http://ftp.videolan.org/pub/videolan/testing/, where release candidate 8 for version 3.0.0 is currently available.
According to VLC’s Twitter feed, if all goes according to plan, VLC Media Player 3.0.0 ought to hopefully have its official release on February 9, since a message was posted February 6, yesterday, for people to hopefully expect a release in 3 days.
I REALLY hope that the nightly builds return to the website after that, because I have been one of the people who has tested nightly builds and I want to get back to doing that again. Yeah, I get it, version 3.0.0 is not out yet, if it were, it would be on the front page of the website as the latest version, obviously! But taking down the nightly builds, I hope that is just a temporary measure because experimenting with nightly builds is fun, yes I know they can be unstable, that is the whole point. Anyway for people interested in testing a release candidate in these final (estimated) TWO days, I gave the link.
I posted this in the forum about the website because my post relates to VLC’s website, of course, rather than the functionality of VLC itself. I am looking forward to the 3.0.0 release, whether it is in two days or less days or more days! Congratulations on this upcoming release!
