How To Make Crop Change Permanent

I went to a larger monitor and found a different crop setting is needed (to reduce the size of the black borders) - not the "default" that VLC uses and that was good on my previous monitor. How do I make that crop setting permanent so it will be used on each file played and I don't have to re-enter it each time? (I've looked using Google for instructions but the ones that I found are old and don't reflect the current VLC Preferences--> Video setup).
