VLC on Display 2

not sure if anyone has experienced this but I am trying to display videos and pictures on a second monitor using DirectX( direct draw) output with display 2 selected on windows 10. However VLC it appears stretches the video or picture image and spills it over the second monitor. I have played with different resolutions and different older versions of VLC to no avail. Is there a way to resolve this?
