Capture/Record Stream Data Showing In Status Bar?

The VLC player status bar provides valuable descriptive information about stream content.

I use VLC player to stream and record for personal use audio from http://radio.publicdomainproject.org/ site.

If I could capture and save the metadata shown in the status bar I would have some idea of what music is contained in a lengthy audio recording.

Is it possible to record status bar data while a site is streaming audio to my computer?

If this is possible, how might it be accomplished?
