VLC for Apple TV still not working...

Postby tylers » 16 Mar 2017 19:32

Hey guys. I got 280 views with not a single reply. Hopefully this time I get some traction.

So I upload a video to the IP Address and play the video on loop from there.

What I'm wanting: To Play the video for our National Support Center. It's internal marketing that we're doing and we need it to loop our video. And VLC DOES loop my video.

What's wrong then?: The video keeps pausing. Randomly. No warning. Random Pause. Could be at any time of the day. It brings up the timeline to scrub and everything with the pause symbol. So it's not a framerate or freezing thing, it's a literal pause that it's performing.

Some specs that may help:
-The video is 3GB in size, it plays for 5 hrs and 40 minutes at 720p.
-It loops just fine
-Pauses anywhere between 30 minutes and 8 hours, but usually lands around 4 hours before it pauses.
-It was uploaded to the IP address and it's playing from there.

Can ANYONE help me? We really need this to work and AppleTV has crap options to do something like this, Obi-Wan you're my only hope <3

This is what worked for me when I had the same issue:
VLC was pausing when I let the uploaded video automatically start to play while the upload was still proceeding.
Don't let the video start to play while the upload is taking place (hit the pause button in your browser window, or use the pause button on the Apple TV remote).
Wait until the upload is finished. Then start the playback by clicking on the video on your TV screen.
