vlc 0.8.2 causing double screen

Postby pleasehelp » 03 Nov 2005 18:09

I've got MacOSX 10.2.8 and I just downloaded the latest version of VLC. The last version worked fine, but now everything I've tried to play comes out doubled on the screen, also with messed up colors so everything looks like pastel florescents. I've reset all the preferences and nothing changed. Any ideas?
Thanks, Els

same problem here

I am running a similar setup: OSX 10.2.8 on an 800MHz G4 and get exactly the same effect. Every video I open is doubled - a split screen showing the same thing on both sides and everything is a strange purple colour (and no I'm not wearing rose tinted glasses!)
Been using the software for years and no problems until 0.8.2.
Any ideas?

Stupid me - should have searched the forum first!
download the DJ's .dmg from the thread below and install.
Then under VLC preferences click advanced(bottom left of preferences window) then click on video, then output module and select the Quartz video option. Everything back to normal!

You don't need to download this special (outdated) version. Just download VLC 0.8.2 or 0.8.4-test2 and use the settings "inneedofassistance" posted.

Ehm, then you should delete your preferences in ~/Library/Preferences (both a folder called VLC and org.videolan.vlc.plist) and try again to follow his hints.
There is also a video-filter in VLC which lets you split the screen. It might have been activated accidentally. Deleting the preferences makes sure that this isn't the reason.
