Can not get VLC to let me choose a destination folder

I am trying to use VLC to rip a CD for the first time. Whenever I try to choose the destination folder where I want my music to go, when I click the save button, NOTHING happens, and the windows just stay there as if I'm not doing anything at all.

The start rip button is greyed out, and will not let me start the rip until I choose where I want the file to go, but it won't let me save where I am trying to get it to go.

I have tried saving it to multiple folders in different locations, and I get the same thing no matter what. I am using the latest version on windows 10, and windows 10 is current on updates.
