Simple list view to avoid filename truncation?

Postby rconti » 09 Sep 2016 22:00

Hello all,

I have AndroidTV on a Sony Bravia and finding a decent media player is maddening! The usual Kodi/Plex/XBMC solutions are pretty bad and/or require transcoding. Sony ships a "video player" with the TV which actually works.. most of the time.

I'd love to use VLC but it's utterly useless due to a very simple display issue. I haven't been able to remedy it; there seems to be no settings option. VLC insists on using this "icon" view instead of a simple list view.

Note I haven't rooted my TV or done anything funky; simply downloaded from the Google Play store so I'm hoping the setting is something simple I'm missing.

thanks!

I'll rework this view, to get better cards.
It will be for next major release of VLC.

Thanks so much for the quick response! Glad to know I'm not doing something wrong, and hopefully others will benefit from this change as well. I'll keep my eye out for it.

Awesome! Thanks so much! Right now you have to click+hold to see the full file name, then exit out if it's not the right file and scroll back to the next file.

Is there a way when you are making this update to remember where I was within a folder when browsing on a network drive? Like my wife wants to watch a tv show all in one folder, whenever an episode is done it goes back to the beginning of the folder and she has to count through the episodes to get to the next one.

Many thanks again for your work on VLC, it is FANTASTIC!
