VLC Output issue - Windows 8.1 - VLC 2.2.4
PROBLEM 1- Grey / White Screen
Main issue and I am completely aggravated!
Okay, I need HELP from the VLC GODS…When watching movies, regardless of the type of movies I get an issue when the screen doesn’t necessarily pixilate but kind of shows the negative of the scene until that scene changes. It’s almost like having the whole screen kind of go whitish or grey. I found an example of what the screen looks like and have attached it ( see bottom of post ). I have had this issue as long as I care to remember….
This can last the entire scene, had it go as long as 20 seconds, or it can suddenly go back to normal in few seconds. It is very rare that it does not happen in some part of any the movie. It will happen completely random at any time in the movie.
If I rewind that part of the movie and watch it again the scene will play normal with no quality issues. This is why I believe it is a software issue. This grey screen does NOT happen with Windows Media Player at all (which I Hate) so I believe there is something I can do in the settings to remedy the issue.
I do not believe it is an issue with a lost frame playing…with the compression whacking out, frames corrupted ect., cause I stated earlier you CAN rewind and it plays fine.
Some observations that may not be fully true/ False either…
I believe it happens more with Action scenes.
I believe it happens more with larger file size videos such a 1080 BR rips vs 700 Meg AVI file.

Problem 2- 1080 Playback VIDEO literally Skipping - Believe I solved the Issue
IF I DID THIS INCORRECT AND THERE IS A BETTER OR DIFFERENT WAY PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!
Believe it’s remedied, as watched 3x 1080 movies With NO problems. Just want to make sure what I did will not cause any other issues down the road.
My Second Issue which now seems better due to an adjustment I made. When I download and watch files formatted in 1080 . The scenes would literally skip, audio was fine. I made an adjustment under:
TOOLS > INPUT and CODECS >VIDEO CODECS > FFmpeg
Now on the Right side menu I made a change to
‘Skip the loop filter for H.264 Decoding’ I Set this to ‘ALL’.
The 1080 skipping seems to be gone now and all seems well. Hopefully no other issues….
