Playlist Pause/Stop after each track, and advance to next

Hello

I am using VLC for playback in live event situations. Usually I am dealing with a playlist of various tracks provided to me, which I am required to play at specific times. While VLC does have the "Play and Stop" and "Play and Pause" options in advanced preferences, I need a script that will stop or pause playback at the end of the track, advance to the next track, and remain paused or stopped until the play button is pressed.

"Play and Stop" resets to the beginning of that track, and "Play and Pause" keeps the focus on the track that just played, as opposed to the next track (which I need to verify to make sure I am playing the correct track)

If this has already been addressed, I apologize, I could not find it in the forums
