1080p video Stuttering over Network:where to change cache size?

Postby GingaNinja » 08 Jul 2016 03:36

Using VLC 2.2.4 on Win7 32 bit, with stock "as installed" settings.
HD video plays fine locally (either from HDD or external USB) but stutters over (wired) LAN. Can consistently acheive >80 MB/s transfer speed machine-machine via LAN so wouldn't have expected this to be a problem, but it is! :)

All the guides I've found suggest increasing Cache size - which is fine, but all reference old versions of VLC: I can't find where to increase cache in the latest version.
Increasing the "latency" drop-down in advanced settings has helped but not eliminated the issue.

Can anyone advise where to change cache and/or any settings changes I should try?
Many thanks for any help.

Menu Tools -> Preferences (Show Settings = ALL) -> Input/Codecs
Then scroll down to Advanced/File Caching on the right panel.
