firewire input

With a little experimentation I've found that it is possible to mount a firewire device (the test was with a Canon GL1 camcorder) and stream the video feed directly from the camera through VLS.... I was excited until I realized I wasn't getting audio.

Originally when I tried this (almost a year ago) I asked in the IRC channel and was pointed to a gentleman that supposedly had a means to get the audio from the firewire device as well. I was never able to contact him. Has there been any development on firewire input? I'm currently running linux on the PPC platform.

If the person that has the firewire lib that can mount and playback audio reads this, please reply so I can get the lib from you.
