Recording that doesn't overwrite previous recording

So I have gone through the steps on "how to create a file that tells VLC to start recording a stream" via this link http://superuser.com/questions/287222/h ... g-a-stream. And I was successful in implementing the steps!

But now I would like to record streams without overwriting the previous recorded file. How do I accomplish this using the command line? Thank you.

Change the filename every time in the command line, obviously.

I don't want to manually change the filename every time I record. I would like the filename to save automatically. for e.g. say the filename is record.mp4 the next time it saves maybe it will be record1.mp4 and so on.

Then change the filename automatically in your batch/script/whatever.
