VLC 2.2.2

Postby jprokos » 08 Feb 2016 19:22

I just installed 2.2.2 over 2.2.1.

This version was supposed to fix the Mac OS application signing issue? The issue was any change of the VLC application caused the application to no longer appear as signed software.

When I checked the VLsub extension that is pre-installed with VLC 2.2.2 it is version 0.9.13. Another version is 0.9.8, so I thought this would be a good test. I removed the VLSub that was installed with the app and installed the other version using the Addons Manager. Now, again, when launching VLC I am asked over and over to approve incoming connections - VLC is no longer considered signed software by the OS. The only way is to keep both versions of the extension. I recommend that the developers remove the VLsub extension and let users install if they want. The other odd thing is that after installing the version listed as 0.9.8 I have two VLsub in the menu - one is 0.9.10 and the other is 0.9.13??

Hello,

Yes, VLC 2.2.2 fixed code signing issues on El Capitan. However, by removing the VLsub extension, you broke the signature of the app and hence the "incoming connections" dialog re-appears.

VLsub is pre-installed because a majority of our users asked for it. Why would you want to install another version of that extension btw.?
