VLC for tvOS - no sound on MKV

Postby Uzzy » 14 Jan 2016 07:21

Hi!
I've just installed fresh new VLC for tvOS and tried to play MKV file which has 2 audio tracks but unfortunately got no sound in any case (tried several times including ATV restart). In audio settings no sound has been chosen by default (it's VLC's settings - not my :) ).

BTW, VLC on OS X can play this file without problem.

It there any solution?

I have various no sound problem too. For rmbv, there are like 5 second mute when the video start playing than the audio is ok (this problem mau happen also in IOS ) For video capture from ATSC (mpeg2?) through upnp, there is no audio even for a long time. The audio track was selected the disable one. I haven't check whether that require any AC3 codec so it doesn't play

Note that VLC for Apple TV currently does not support AC-3, E-AC-3 and MLP audio tracks, which are supported on the Mac. This might change in the future, but that's the current state and we can't do anything about it.

If you have reliable audio issues with other codecs or specific output device setups, we'd be extremely curious to hear them.

@Felix Paul Kuehne, thanks a lot! In my case both of audio tracks were AC3. Looking forward to the upcoming fix.
