Mobotix MxPEG causes VLC crash

Postby smarty123 » 23 Dec 2015 10:56

VLC supports the MxPEG Mobotix Surveillance CAM Video Codec since a long time.

Starting with GIT 20151021 and newer both (2.2.2 and 3.0 branch - 64 bit) cause VLC player to crash once you play mxPEG Files.

Codec: Mxpeg (MXPG)
Decodiertes Format: Planar 4:2:0 YUV full scale
Bildschirmauflösung: 1280x960
Bildwiederholrate: 999999.995904

I noticed that from above build day the 7z file is about 2Meg larger than all builds before. Dunno what library changed but it broke the MXPG Codec... :(

It would be nice to have it fixed to continue testing new 3.0 branch builds

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback, and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com if it's too long.

Also upload a short sample of a problematic file to either http://streams.videolan.org/upload/ or to Zippyshare.com (200 MB max) or to EmbedUpload.com, the latter will upload the file for you to several other hosts (use the default ones) and then post the link to the file here.

If needed cut it with DGsplit and read here about how to do it:
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=57724&p=193335#p193335
50 MB max should be enough.

Downloaded 3.0 build 20151220 / 64 bit (7z file) and ran it from extracted dir c:\temp. Plays everything but no mxpeg files.

I set messages to level 2 and specified the log path and file but the log keeps empty. only creates log file.

Opening the mxg file it just crashes.
It plays perfectly using vlc 3.0 64 git until build date: 20151020 All later builds in both branches crash

Im sorry i cannot upload a vid file with a mxg mobotics cam video file cos it is under disclosure due to german data protection rights.

But to state the difference: it must be in the 2 MB changes due 2015-10-21 and in vlclib or the codec that decodes MxPEG
