Cannot reestablish VLC completely in Ubuntu

Postby carlosebotero » 15 Oct 2015 04:30

Hi, I have fruitlessly tried to find any solution throughout Internet to several VLC problems in Ubuntu 14.04:

Some ppa libraries were apparently in conflict with Ubuntu's, so the update menu asked for deletion. I deleted the problematic ppas, but it broke my VLC installation. By applying several procedures recommended by several diverse websites, I managed to reinstall the VLC program, but not completely because there are some annoying details which I have been incapable to solve so far:

1. I'm not sure if the volume normalizer is working anymore, because I've noticed considerable variations of sounds between different songs

2. When I set fullscreen through the keys F11 (Menu Bar disappear/appear) and Ctrl+H (Controls disappear/appear), the next video eventually appears occupying only a little frame in the inferior left of the screen, and the rest of the fullscreen image is merely a black background. If untouched, all the following videos will open on that tiny screen of the corner!

3. When you hover the mouse on any control o menu item, there appears a little window that should contain the textual explanation of the emerging tip, buy in my case, there is no text, so I only get a white frame with no text at all.

And this is Ubuntu's problem, because there's no more multimedia info for multimedia files on any file manager (I normally use Nautilus). I already tried to reinstall/install some multimedia info ppa or program, but no success so far.

Does anyone have any idea how to help me? Thanks a lot.

Carlos
