WiFi sharing via personal hotspot?

I am on a train right now with my laptop connected to my phone's personal hotspot, and want to transfer videos to my phone. Since the phone itself is not connected to WiFi, the "Sharing via WiFi" option is disabled, saying "no active WiFi connections".

Is there currently any way to transfer files directly using the personal hotspot? If not, this would be a really helpful feature - currently I am using hotspot to upload videos to dropbox via 3G, then download them again onto the phone!

I could watch the videos on the laptop, but knee room is limited and it is very uncomfortable. Besides, that would be admitting defeat, wouldn't it?

We have ticket 14865 on this matter, but I can't promise if or when this feature will be implemented.
