Chirping during streaming = "Could not convert timestamp " errors

I'm streaming/saving an internet radio station. I hear a lot of "chirping", skipping and dead air.
Everything worked on my old XP PC, the new PC is running Win8... I'm not sure it matters, but I wanted to mention it.
