How to register music track data with VLC Media Player

Postby musicquery » 03 Oct 2015 14:51

Hi,

Does anyone know how to enter music track data so that it appears on VLC medial player if a person puts a CD into their computer.

I have released an album it has been registered through the traditional ways, such as Gracenote which systems such as iTunes use to get music track data.

My customers who have bought my CD and who use VLC media player all have a different album coming up when they play the CD album.

It would be great it anyone could help with this query. It is not just on one computer so there is no point in suppling system info as it is the same with everyone who is using the player.

Many Thanks

Paul

If you are talking about an Audio CD then you need to add the CD-Text information before burning the CD.

If you are talking about an MP3 CD, then you need to add the proper metadata tags to the files before burning the CD.

It was all entered at the mastering stage and the CD has been mastered professionally and it went to a pressing plant, so there shouldn't be a problem.

Are you aware of the Gracenote system?

I'm having the same problem under Windows Vista Home Premium (SP2). I burn sermon CDs for our church using ImgBurn. Typically there are multiple tracks on the CD. VLC 2.2.1 running under Windows 7 on my laptop displays the CD text, but under Vista it only displays "Track01.cda", "Track2.cda", etc. Before I started using VLC, I used a plugin for Windows Media Player, which works on both systems. I'm trying to eliminate my dependence on WMP - it does too many things automatically that I don't want done.

The ImgBurn log shows the following information about the CD drives:

Vista system: HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GH40L 1.04-01(E:) (RAID)

Windows 7 system: TSSTcorp DVD+-RW SN-208BB D100 (D:) (SATA)
