Okay, this may not really be a "Linux specific" question, but I'm running VLC on Xubuntu, and I'm not sure where else to post this.
Here's my issue:
I have VLC running with the LUA interface on a Xubuntu 15.04 machine, and it's running great. I can control it via browser from my Linux laptop, my girlfriend's Windows 7 laptop, my android tablet, and my kindle. Everything's groovy EXCEPT: I have a problem with an Asus tablet running Windows 8 and Internet Explorer.
Yeah, I now, Windows 8 sucks. It was a gift. I'm going to put Linux on it someday when I figure out how to do that.
And, yeah, I know, the problem is Windows, not Linux. But hear me out.
Here's the problem: the VLC Lua interface has a password, but no user id. All my other devices are cool with this, but the Windows Tablet can't get past the fact that there's no user id. I don't see the ability to set a user ID in the interface settings, just a password. And if I take the password out, it won't work at all, and displays an error message in the browser telling the remote machine that the password hasn't been set yet.
So, my question is: What do I use for user id? Windows 8 won't accept {null} (just hit enter), or a space. I've tried "admin" and "vlc" hoping those might work, but I'm coming up empty.
