VLC media showings lines with faster movements [solved]

Postby Tirrot » 29 Jul 2015 08:26

Hi,

I've had a history of graphic/screen/crash problems with my new (yes) laptop, a Dell Inspiron 15. The memory and graphics cards have been replaced now and all the drivers are up-to-date. Dell told me to install my programs one at a time, restart and test online and offline video's before installing the next one.

After installing VLC (which works perfectly on my Dell Vostro 3500 from 2010), restarting and testing the offline video I was previously testing with windows media player, I saw one of the problems showing up again: stripes on the video around "fast" movements. So now at least I know this problem is not related to my computer, but I like VLC more then WMP so I'd like to use it on my new laptop too. I suppose if it works on the old one, it should do the job on the new and better one too?

I have two graphics cards: AMD Radeon R7 M270 and Intel(R) HD Graphics 5500, both are new and the drivers were intsalled yesterday by the Dell technicien and tested with FurMark, everything there is fine. I have windows 8.1 if that's of any importance.

So what could be the problem with VLC? Maybe some options that I have to change?
If someone explains me how to post a screenshot, I'll do that. I see the image button, but I have no clue what to put between the brackets :p

Cheers

BTW: apperently I installed the 32bit version while I have a 64bit laptop. So I removed it completely and then istalled the 64bit version, still the same shaking lines so that's also not where the problem lies...

Sounds like your video is interlaced.
You must use one of the deinterlace modes from the Video menu.

I see, you're right. Deinterlace is currently off and when I turn it on, the video looks good!
Is there a way to make VLC remember to turn it on automatically?
